Fattoria del Colle is a historic 336-hectare estate in Trequanda, between the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia, owned by Donatella Cinelli Colombini and today co-run with her daughter Violante Gardini. The property dates back to 1592, when it was built by the Socini family, Donatella's ancestors, and was restored as a winery in 1998, becoming — alongside Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino — one of the first two Italian wineries staffed entirely by women. Of its 336 hectares, 17 are vineyards and 6 are olive groves, farmed organically with photovoltaic power and sustainable, low-copper viticulture. The estate produces Chianti Superiore DOCG and Orcia DOC wines built around Sangiovese, alongside the rediscovered native variety Foglia Tonda, which Donatella Cinelli Colombini is credited with reviving after more than a century of neglect. Its flagship Orcia DOC blend, Cenerentola, pairs fresh, lively Sangiovese with the darker, spicier Foglia Tonda for a distinctly territorial red. Grapes are hand-picked and vinified within about an hour of harvest, fermented separately by plot in thermo-regulated steel with indigenous yeasts, then refined in French oak. Beyond wine, Fattoria del Colle operates as a full agritourism destination with a restaurant, spa, cookery school, and apartments set around the 16th-century villa and chapel.
