Eloi Gros
エロワ・グロ
A Domaine Lapierre cellar master crafting his own unsulfited old-vine Gamay from 0.90ha of steep, high-altitude Beaujolais slopes.
Eloi Gros is a micro-producer in the Beaujolais, farming just 0.90 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages vines split between two high-altitude sites in Vaux and Le Perreon, which he is converting to organic and biodynamic farming. The son of Ludovic and Marie Gros of Domaine des Terres Vivantes in Blace, he also works as vineyard manager and cellar master at the legendary Domaine Lapierre, and his own wines reflect that mentorship. His parcels sit at around 500 meters on steep granitic and siliceous slopes, planted to old-vine Gamay. His first vintage, 2022, amounted to roughly 1,200 bottles. The wines - including the east-facing Sous Montmain and the south-facing Au Laveur - are hand-harvested, carbonically macerated in concrete, aged in neutral barrels, and bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfites. He has been championed by natural wine writer Aaron Ayscough of Not Drinking Poison.
