Organic Pinot Noir Champagne from Les Riceys, Aube

About Elise Dechannes

Elise Dechannes is a small independent Champagne grower in Les Riceys, in the southernmost Aube (Côte des Bar). She left a career in banking and took over her family's vineyards in 2008. Her vines sit on Kimmeridgian marl and clay, much like neighbouring Chablis, and are planted mainly to Pinot Noir. Her vineyards have been certified organic since 2018, after starting conversion in 2015, and she farmed with biodynamic practices. Her wines include the 100% Pinot Noir Essentielle, a Chardonnay, Cœur de Noirs and Rosé de Saignée, many made without dosage, plus the still Rosé des Riceys. In 2025 she announced she was closing the estate and selling her remaining wines, so these bottles are increasingly scarce.
