Dynax Alom Winery

Dynax Alom Winery is a new Hokkaido winery opened in March 2026 by Dynax Corporation, a Chitose-based automotive friction parts manufacturer, as part of its diversification into wine production. Built on company-owned land adjacent to the Michi-no-Eki Abira D51 Station in Oiwake, Abira Town, the roughly JPY 700 million facility cultivates 16 grape varieties — including Chardonnay, Kerner, Pinot Noir, and the Japanese hybrid Yamasachi — across 14 hectares planted since 2021. The winery's name, "Álom," is Hungarian for "dream," reflecting both the inspiration the company drew from Hungary's vineyard landscapes and its own new-business "dream creation" project. Fermentation began in October 2025, and the winery released its first Hokkaido sparkling wine on March 1, 2026, targeting roughly 4,000 bottles in its debut year and 50,000 bottles annually by 2028. Abira's cool climate and wide diurnal temperature swings, likened to Hungary's wine regions, are considered well suited to grape growing.
