About this wine
This exceptional Madiran is crafted from 100% Tannat, sourced from vines aged 50 to over 150 years, including rare pre-phylloxera parcels. Winemaker Christine Dupuy, a pioneer in the region, focuses on organic viticulture and minimal intervention to tame the naturally robust Tannat. The wine undergoes a long maceration and is aged for approximately 24 months in a combination of oak barrels and concrete vats. It offers a deep, complex profile with aromas of black fruits, licorice, violet, and cedar, balanced by firm yet silky tannins and a refined, elegant structure that defies the rustic reputation of the appellation.
A powerful, full-bodied red that needs air; decant for at least 1-2 hours to reveal its true elegance.
Sommelier's Note
"This is the definitive expression of modern Madiran. It is an absolute must-try for anyone who thinks Tannat is too rustic; it is a masterclass in elegance and power."
