Domaine Kelos

ドメーヌケロス

Tendo couple crafting food-friendly wine from old vines.

Domaine Kelos is a boutique winery in the Araya district of Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, founded by husband-and-wife team Kenichiro and Yoshiko Nakagawa. The couple relocated from Saitama Prefecture in 2018, planted their own vineyard from scratch, obtained their brewing license in August 2022, and opened the winery the following month. The name "Kelos" comes from "Nom de Kelos," a phrase in the local Yamagata dialect meaning "please drink it," reflecting the winery's welcoming, food-focused approach. Kelos crafts small-batch wines from grapes grown on old vines and reclaimed terraced plots in Araya, including Muscat Bailey A and Steuben, aiming to make wines that serve as a true partner to the dinner table.
