Domaine Henri Boillot

Cult monopole Clos de la Mouchère from vines up to 80 years old
Domaine Henri Boillot traces its roots to 1885 in Volnay. The modern domaine was formally established in 2005 when Henri Boillot bought out his brother and sister and renamed it from Domaine Jean Boillot. Operating from a state-of-the-art winery built in 2000 in Meursault, Henri produces white wines using larger-than-standard 350-litre barrels, without battonage, aging on fine lees. The domaine's crown jewel is the monopole Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère — an exceptional single-vineyard from vines up to 80 years old. Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet was added to the portfolio in 2011.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is unique about Henri Boillot's winemaking approach?
- Henri Boillot uses 350-litre barrels rather than the standard 228-litre Burgundy pièce. The larger format means less surface area to volume ratio, resulting in wines with greater purity and less oak influence. Combined with no battonage and long fine lees aging, this creates wines of exceptional purity and minerality.
- What is the Clos de la Mouchère monopole?
- Clos de la Mouchère is a Premier Cru monopole in Puligny-Montrachet that is the exclusive property of Domaine Henri Boillot. The vines reach up to 80 years of age, producing tiny yields of intensely concentrated, mineral Chardonnay. It is one of the most exciting monopoles in all of Burgundy.
- Does Henri Boillot produce Grand Cru wines?
- Yes — since 2011 the domaine has included a Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from a parcel acquired that year. The portfolio also includes four Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet sites: Clos de la Mouchère, Combettes, Folatières, and Les Pucelles.
