Based in Eguisheim, one of Alsace's oldest and most picturesque villages, Domaine Emile Beyer has been growing vines since 1580. Christian Beyer, the 14th generation of the family, now runs the 17-hectare estate together with his wife Valérie. Roughly half of their vineyards sit on Grand Cru and lieu-dit slopes, including a parcel of Riesling on the Eichberg Grand Cru. The domaine achieved organic certification in 2014 and completed its transition to biodynamic viticulture in 2019 (after first biodynamic trials as early as 2016), with harvests done entirely by hand and, on some steep or narrow plots, with horses. Christian Beyer favors a reductive winemaking style, giving the wines less overt color but greater ageing potential, and the estate has been recognized by La Revue du Vin de France as one of Alsace's top producers.
