Founded in 1991 in Arbois by Evelyne and Pascal Clairet, Domaine de la Tournelle is one of the pioneering estates of the Jura natural wine movement. The couple converted their vineyards to organic farming (certified in 2010) and have practiced biodynamic viticulture since 2007, cultivating roughly 8 hectares planted mostly to Savagnin and Chardonnay, with some Trousseau and Ploussard. In the cellar they favor indigenous-yeast fermentation, minimal to no added sulfur, and no fining or filtration on most cuvées, aging wines at least two years on fine lees before release. Their range includes Fleur de Savagnin, Trousseau des Corvées, Terre de Gryphées, Uva Arbosiana, Solstice, Cul de Brey, Vin Jaune, and Macvin du Jura. In 2006 they opened the Bistrot de la Tournelle in their garden. Following Pascal's passing in 2021, Evelyne continues to run the domaine alone, upholding its reputation for pure, precise wines that express Arbois's limestone and marl terroir.
