Domaine Christian Binner

ドメーヌ・クリスチャン・ビネール

Alsace natural wine pioneer, family estate since 1770

Domaine Christian Binner is a family estate in Ammerschwihr, Alsace, where the Binner family has cultivated the land since 1770 — first in mixed polyculture, then, from the years after World War II, as dedicated winegrowers. Christian Binner took over the domaine in 1999 and pushed it toward radical natural winemaking: organic certification followed in 2004, zero-added-sulfur winemaking since around 2012-2013, and Demeter biodynamic certification in 2020. Farming around 11 hectares of granite, clay and sandy soils — including parcels on the Grand Cru sites of Kaefferkopf, Schlossberg and Wineck-Schlossberg — Binner works largely by hand and horse, gathers herbs for vine-strengthening tisanes, and ages his wines in a unique bioclimatic cellar built from local Vosges sandstone, oak and fir according to anthroposophical principles. In 2014 he co-founded Les Vins Pirouettes, a négociant project helping neighboring growers make zero-sulfur natural wines, though he later stepped back to focus on his own estate. His wines — labeled with playful names like Elsassisch is Bombisch! and Côtes d'Amourschwihr — draw on classic Alsace varieties (Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Muscat, Gewurztraminer) and complantation field blends, expressing pure, unfiltered, high-energy terroir.
