Domaine Brand (also known as Domaine Brand & Fils) is a three-generation family estate in Ergersheim, a village in Alsace's 'Couronne d'Or' near Strasbourg, whose farm buildings have belonged to the family since 1750. Lucien Brand founded the estate as a mixed farm in 1956; his son Charles Brand converted the full 10 hectares to organic farming in 2001, and Charles's son Philippe Brand joined in 2006, pushing the domaine toward biodynamic practices (Demeter-certified since 2015) and fully natural winemaking since 2014. Following the 'SAINS' philosophy -- nothing added, nothing removed -- Philippe ferments with indigenous yeasts, skips fining and filtration, plows some parcels by horse, and hand-harvests vineyards spread across Ergersheim, Osthoffen, and Wolxheim on clay-limestone soils. The range spans classic Alsace varietals, skin-contact and kvevri-aged cuvees, a solera-method Riesling ('La Chimere'), and vibrant, low-sulfur pet-nats that have become favorites among natural wine drinkers.
