MUSUBI Junihitoe ("Twelve-Layered Robe") is Domaine Bless's most ambitious field blend: a 2024-vintage orange wine made from twelve grape varieties — including several aromatic ones such as Muscat, Traminer, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling — co-fermented and macerated on their skins in concrete tanks, a technique still rare among Japanese producers. Though classified here as white for catalog purposes, its extended skin contact gives it the deeper color, texture, and gentle tannic grip characteristic of an orange wine. Only 1,080 bottles were produced. The result is a layered, aromatic wine where floral top notes sit over a complex, savory core built from a dozen interwoven grape varieties.
A rare Japanese take on orange wine: twelve varieties, wild-yeast fermentation, and concrete-tank skin contact combine to give a texture and complexity that few domestic field blends attempt at this scale.
New to wine?
A great way to experience Japanese orange wine for the first time — the twelve-variety blend keeps it complex, but the aromatic varieties make it approachable and floral rather than austere.
Food Pairings
The skin-contact texture and gentle tannin make it a natural match for Japanese cuisine — tempura, grilled fish with citrus, or dishes with a touch of umami and spice.
When to drink it
Well suited to special dinners or as a conversation-starting gift for wine lovers curious about Japanese field-blend orange wines.
