Domaine Baumann-Zirgel

ドメーヌ・バウマン・ツィルゲル

Family biodynamic estate, 4 Alsace Grand Crus since 1952

Domaine Baumann-Zirgel is a family-run estate on the hillsides above Mittelwihr, Alsace, founded in 1952 by Xavier and Gabrielle Baumann. The domaine passed to their daughter Nicole and her husband Jean-Jacques Zirgel in 1975, and since 2001 has been run by their son Benjamin Zirgel and his wife Valérie, who converted the vineyards to organic farming (certified 2016) and then biodynamic practices, earning Demeter certification from the 2020 vintage. The estate farms 11 hectares across four Grand Crus — Mandelberg, Schlossberg, Schoenenbourg, and Sporen — plus five named lieux-dits including Streng, producing classic Alsatian varietals such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Crémant d'Alsace prized for their purity, mineral tension, and precise terroir expression.
