Domaine Barmès-Buecher

バルメス・ビュシェール

Pioneering biodynamic estate in Alsace crafting pure, terroir-driven wines from three Grand Crus.

Domaine Barmès-Buecher is a benchmark biodynamic estate in Wettolsheim, Alsace, founded in 1985 when Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès united their families' vineyard holdings, both tracing viticulture in the village back to the 17th century. The estate has farmed biodynamically since 1998 and holds Biodyvin certification since 2001. Its roughly 17 hectares span 7 terroirs and 90 parcels, including the Grand Crus Hengst, Pfersigberg, and Steingrubler. Following François's sudden death in 2011, his children Maxime and Sophie Barmès took over, continuing a philosophy of close observation and adaptation to each vintage rather than rigid rule-following. The estate was awarded the top 3-star rating in the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France, and its wines are known for exceptional purity, precision, and vibrant acidity that faithfully express each terroir.

Yes. The estate has farmed biodynamically since 1998 and has held Biodyvin certification since 2001.
What is the estate's winemaking philosophy?
Rather than following a fixed method, the Barmès family describes biodynamics as a feeling — listening closely to the vines and adapting to the season, the plot, and the weather to help each site reach its true potential.
Which Grand Cru vineyards does the domaine farm?
The estate farms parcels in three Grand Crus around Wettolsheim: Hengst, Pfersigberg, and Steingrubler, across roughly 17 hectares and 7 terroirs.
Who runs the domaine today?

Yes. Their precise acidity and mineral-driven Rieslings and Pinot Blancs are excellent with sushi, sashimi, and other delicate seafood dishes.
