Spanning 12 hectares, it is the first vineyard acquired by the Moueix family (specifically Antoine Moueix) in 1923. The estate's name, "Taillefer" (meaning "to cut iron"), refers to the iron-oxide-rich blue clay and sandy-gravel soils that define its unique terroir. Managed today by Claire Moueix and her husband Cyril Basteau, the vineyard is planted with Merlot (around 85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). The estate practices sustainable viticulture with HEV 3 certification. Its wines are celebrated for their elegant structure, silky tannins, and complex aromas of dark berries, violets, and truffles, offering excellent aging potential.
