About Charles Heidsieck
Founded in Reims in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck is a Champagne house known for its rich style built on long-aged reserve wines. In 1867 the house acquired Gallo-Roman chalk quarries (crayères) beneath Reims, which it uses as cellars for maturation. Its Brut Réserve is blended with a high proportion of reserve wines, around 40% averaging about ten years of age, which gives it unusual depth, creaminess and complexity.
