Concerto

コンチェルト

Castello di Fonterutoli

Sangiovese · Cabernet Sauvignon

About this wine

First released in 1981, Concerto was one of the pioneering Super Tuscans, blending native Sangiovese with international Cabernet Sauvignon. Production paused in the mid-1990s when its vineyards were repurposed for Castello Fonterutoli, then the wine was revived in 2011 for a small circle of longtime clients, keeping the original 80/20 blend. It offers dark berry fruit, spice, and tobacco notes with elegant, silky tannins.

Beginner's Note

An accessible entry point into Super Tuscans, balancing Sangiovese's freshness with Cabernet's structure.

Sommelier's Note

"Concerto shows exactly how Sangiovese's acidity can cut through Cabernet's richness — a quietly historic bottle worth seeking out."

Food Pairings

Pairs excellently with grilled red meats, game dishes, aged cheeses, and savory mushroom risotto.

When to drink it

Formal dinners, celebrations, or a gift for a wine enthusiast.
