Intistieti

インティスティエティ

Case Basse di Gianfranco Soldera

Sangiovese

About this wine

A single-vineyard bottling sourced from the Intistieti plot of the Case Basse estate — a parcel distinct from the main Case Basse vineyard. Produced only in select vintages, historically as a shorter-aged bottling between 1985 and roughly 1992-1995 (labeled Vino da Tavola or Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Intistieti depending on the year), and occasionally in later vintages such as 2005. 100% Sangiovese, made with the same natural, minimal-intervention methods as the rest of the estate's production, but expressing the slightly different character of the Intistieti soils.

Beginner's Note

A rare, library-vintage wine mainly of interest to collectors — approach through the current Case Basse bottling first if you are new to Soldera's wines.

Sommelier's Note

"Intistieti shows a rawer, more rustic side of Soldera's Sangiovese than the main Case Basse bottling — a fascinating counterpoint for anyone studying the estate's range."

Food Pairings

Suited to roasted game, wild boar ragù, and aged Tuscan pecorino. Its firm structure and savory earthiness also pair well with charcoal-grilled wagyu or a rich dashi-based hot pot.

When to drink it

Rare-wine tastings, vertical comparisons with Case Basse, or a milestone occasion for dedicated collectors.

Terroir & Winemaking

100% Sangiovese from the Intistieti parcel of the estate, fermented with native yeasts and aged in large oak casks; historic vintages (1985-c.1992) saw comparatively shorter oak aging than the main Case Basse bottling before being released under Vino da Tavola or Brunello Riserva Intistieti labeling depending on the vintage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Intistieti different from the main Case Basse wine?
Intistieti comes from a distinct parcel within the estate and, in its historic vintages, saw shorter oak aging than the flagship Case Basse bottling, giving it a somewhat more rustic, earthy character.
Is Intistieti still produced today?
It was mainly produced between 1985 and the early-to-mid 1990s, with occasional later releases; it is not a wine released every vintage, so bottles found on the market today are largely older library stock.
What does Intistieti taste like?
Sour cherry, dried rose, tar, smoke and dried herbs, with firm, savory tannins and pronounced acidity typical of mature Sangiovese from Case Basse.
How should Intistieti be served?
Decant well ahead of time and serve at cool room temperature (around 16-18°C) to let its earthy, complex aromatics fully open.
