Makioka Kyoho Kyoho MC is a rosé from Cantina Hiro made with 100% Kyoho grapes grown in the Makioka district of Yamanashi City — one of Japan's leading Kyoho-growing areas. The wine is produced using the maceration carbonique method (マセラシオン・カルボニック), in which whole, uncrushed clusters of Kyoho are sealed in a tank under a carbon-dioxide atmosphere to undergo intracellular fermentation before pressing. This technique favors the extraction of the grape's naturally vivid, fruity primary aromas while minimizing tannin extraction, producing a light-bodied, dry, fresh, early-drinking rosé meant to showcase the character of Makioka-grown Kyoho rather than a sweet or dessert-style wine. The 2017 vintage was released in 750ml bottles at 11% ABV.

Sommelier's Note

A rare, honest look at what Japan's beloved table grape can do when handled with a fermentation technique built for freshness — proof that Kyoho deserves a place in the wine glass, not just the fruit bowl.
