Kerner is Camel Farm Winery's signature white wine, made from 100% Kerner grapes grown on vines over 40 years old in the winery's own vineyards in Yoichi, Hokkaido — a cool, maritime appellation on Japan's northern coast at 43°N. The grapes are hand-harvested with strict fruit selection, then fermented using a blend of temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, followed by roughly seven months of aging. The result is an aromatic, medium-bodied dry white with a bright, pale-gold color, showing grapefruit, mandarin, white peach, pear, mint, and white pepper aromatics, a rounded and concentrated palate, bright acidity, and a long, faintly bitter, mineral-driven finish reminiscent of grapefruit pith. It has drawn international recognition, including Bronze at the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge (2020 vintage), and Gold at the Hong Kong Japanese Sake Award (2023, on the 2022 vintage).

Sommelier's Note

Camel Farm's most distinctive expression of old-vine Kerner — its layered citrus and herbal aromatics and long, saline finish make it one of Hokkaido's benchmark whites.
