Propiedad (Viñas Viejas de la Propiedad) is one of the flagship wines of Bodegas Palacios Remondo, built around old-vine Garnacha (around 90% of the blend, with a small proportion of traditional varieties such as Graciano and Mazuelo) grown at roughly 550 metres on the rocky, calcareous-clay slopes of Monte Yerga. It is only produced in vintages that meet Álvaro Palacios's exacting standards for elegance, and is aged around 18 months in French oak.
Old-vine Garnacha rarely shows this much freshness and precision — Propiedad proves Rioja Oriental can produce wines of real finesse, not just power.
