Organic, Chardonnay-led grower Champagne from Villenauxe-la-Grande
About Barrat-Masson
Barrat-Masson is a grower Champagne estate based at 20 rue Jaillard in Villenauxe-la-Grande, in the Sézannais area of the Aube department. It was established in 2010 by Aurélie, an oenologist, and Loïc, a vigneron who took over the family estate in 2005. The vineyards run from Villenauxe-la-Grande to Bethon and are planted 90% to Chardonnay and 10% to Pinot Noir. Loïc converted to organic viticulture in 2009, and the estate is a member of Vignerons Indépendants. Wines are vinified by parcel in stainless steel, oak barrels and demi-muids, aged on fine lees and then on lath for several years, and disgorged without added liqueur. The range has seven cuvées: Fleur de craie, Grain d'argile, Les Margannes, Nuances de Cornoie, La Grande Homée, Les Volies and La Jancélie.
