About Andreas Laible

Andreas Laible is a family winery in Durbach, in the Ortenau district of Baden, with winemaking roots documented back to 1672. A member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 2002, the estate farms around 8.4 acres of steep, south-facing slopes of granite, porphyry and gneiss, with roughly 60% planted to Riesling (locally known as Klingelberger). Its flagship wines come from the celebrated Plauelrain vineyard, a VDP Erste Lage site whose weathered granite soils give the Rieslings pronounced minerality, tension and aging potential. Andreas Laible is widely regarded as one of Germany's most highly decorated wine estates, with more than 600 medals to its name, including the DLG Bundesehrenpreis (2015-2017) and the Baden Landesehrenpreis (2015-2018); its 2016 Durbacher Plauelrain Riesling Eiswein was crowned world champion at the AWC Vienna. Andreas Laible Jr. was named Germany's Best Young Winemaker in 2007.
