About this wine
Craft Valley Blend Blanc is Akiu Winery's white wine from its "Craft Valley" series, blending Gewürztraminer grown in the winery's own Akiu vineyard with Chardonnay sourced from contract growers in Yamagata Prefecture. Fermented at low temperatures to preserve delicate aromatics, it shows a pale, faintly green-tinged colour with aromas of pear and green plum (aoume), framed by bright citrus acidity for a fresh, easy-drinking finish. Dry, medium-bodied, 10% ABV.
An easy, aromatic white with gentle fruitiness and bright acidity — a friendly entry point into Japanese wine.
Sommelier's Note
"A textbook expression of Akiu's "own vineyard plus contract growers" philosophy — Gewürztraminer's perfume meets Chardonnay's structure for a blend that's more than the sum of its parts."

秋保メルロー
Akiu Merlot
RedMerlot
Akiu Merlot is Akiu Winery's flagship red wine, crafted exclusively from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the winery's own estate vineyard in Sendai's Akiu hot-spring district. The vines are rooted in soil rich in "Akiu-ishi" volcanic tuff, imparting the wine's signature minerality. The wine displays a brilliant cherry-red hue with aromas of sweet ripe berries and spicy herbs, layered with notes of leather and clove. Aged in oak barrels, it finishes with soft acidity, smooth tannins, and an elegant, pure lingering finish. It is released in limited quantities each vintage (e.g. 2021, 2022, 2023) and sold mainly through the winery's online store and tasting room, and is distinct from Akiu Winery's regular Merlot bottling, which also uses grapes from contracted growers.

Akiu Field Blend Blanc
WhitePinot Gris · Gewürztraminer
Akiu Field Blend Blanc is Akiu Winery's flagship white wine, crafted from 100% estate-grown grapes co-fermented as a field blend of Pinot Gris (71%) and Gewürztraminer (29%). Grown in soil rich in "Akiu-ishi" volcanic tuff in Sendai's Akiu hot-spring district, the wine shows floral aromas of lychee and rose with a note of white pepper spice. On the palate it is dry with soft acidity and an oily texture carrying a pleasant, structuring bitterness, at around 9% ABV. Best served at 10-14°C, it is released in limited quantities each vintage (2022, 2023, 2024) through the winery's online store and tasting room.
秋保クラフトバレーブレンドルージュ
Akiu Craft Valley Blend Rouge
RedMerlot · Yama Sauvignon
Craft Valley Blend Rouge is part of Akiu Winery's Craft Valley series, which unites estate-grown fruit from the winery's Akiu vineyard with Merlot and Yama Sauvignon grapes sourced from contracted growers in Yamagata Prefecture. A portion of the grapes are semi-dried using a passito-inspired technique — rare among Japanese wineries — concentrating sugars and deepening the wine's fruit character before fermentation. The result is a vivid ruby-colored, medium-bodied red with aromas of blackcurrant and dark berries layered with black pepper, dried herbs, and spice. On the palate it shows refreshing acidity and soft, approachable tannins, finishing in an elegant, well-balanced style at around 9.5% ABV. Best enjoyed at 14-16°C, it captures Akiu Winery's philosophy of blending its own valley terroir with the character of neighboring Tohoku vineyards.
