Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC

ボルゲリ・サッシカイア DOC

The legendary Super Tuscan and Italy's only single-estate DOC.

Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC is a unique and prestigious Italian wine appellation located in the Tuscany region. Established in 2013, it is the only DOC in Italy created exclusively for a single estate's wine: Tenuta San Guido's Sassicaia. This sub-zone within the wider Bolgheri area recognizes the exceptional quality and historical significance of this 'Super Tuscan' pioneer, first released in 1968. The vineyards feature calcareous soils rich in marl, stones, and pebbles — from which the wine takes its name ("sassicaia" means stony ground) — combined with a maritime climate moderated by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The blend of roughly 85-100% Cabernet Sauvignon and up to 15% Cabernet Franc is aged at least 24 months, with a minimum of 18 months in oak barrels under 225 litres, producing wines of extraordinary elegance, complexity, and longevity.

Best for: Collectors, fine dining enthusiasts, and those seeking the pinnacle of Italian Bordeaux-style blends.

The primary grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon (roughly 85-100%), typically blended with a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc.
Why is Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC unique among Italian appellations?
