Suvereto's smallest family winery, three generations strong
Valdamone (Brugali Lorenzo) is a small family-run estate in the San Lorenzo area near Suvereto, on Tuscany's Etruscan Coast. Now led by agronomist Lorenzo Brugali, the third generation of the family, the property has grown since the 1950s from little more than a hectare of vines for home use into roughly 6.5 hectares of vineyard within a 12-hectare estate that also produces extra-virgin olive oil. Working with oenologist Vincenza Folgheretti, Valdamone crafts wines under the Val di Cornia DOC and Toscana IGT designations from Vermentino, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, fermenting in concrete and ageing in tonneau in a hand-restored historic cellar. The estate is a member of the Consorzio Suvereto e Val di Cornia Wine, where Lorenzo Brugali also sits on the board.
