A historic noble estate located about one kilometer from the Medici walls of Arezzo, in eastern Tuscany, owned for generations by the Counts Borghini Baldovinetti de' Bacci family. The property's documented history dates back to 1452, when a portion of the family's vineyard land was sold to help fund Piero della Francesca's fresco cycle 'The Legend of the True Cross' in the Basilica of San Francesco in Arezzo. Today the estate spans roughly 950 hectares, including about 300 hectares of vineyards across three properties: San Fabiano and Campriano in the Chianti Colli Aretini area, and Poggio Uliveto, located within the Montepulciano appellation, which produces Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG from Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo Nero and Mammolo. The estate is recognized by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano for its Poggio Uliveto property, and also produces Chianti Putto, Chianti Riserva, Chianti Superiore, Vin Santo del Chianti, the Supertuscan 'Armaiolo', and extra virgin olive oil. Note: despite the shared name, Tenute San Fabiano is an entirely different, unrelated producer from San Fabiano Calcinaia in Castellina in Chianti (Chianti Classico).
