Tenuta Sasso Orlando is a small family-run estate in the Bagnarello locality of Suvereto, in the Livorno province of coastal Tuscany. The property extends over roughly forty hectares of vineyards interspersed with olive groves and cork oaks ("suveri" in the local dialect, the origin of the town's name). The first vines were planted in 2002 and the first harvest in Suvereto followed in 2004; today the estate is carried on by siblings Giandomenico and Paola, continuing the path set by founder Pietro. Production is deliberately kept small, never exceeding ten thousand bottles a year, in order to preserve the mineral-driven character of the Val di Cornia terroir. The range includes a Sauvignon Blanc white, a Pugnitello rosé, and a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon red (Terra di Sasso, Toscana IGT), with the estate showing a particular fondness for Pugnitello, a rare native Tuscan variety it describes as "a native version of Merlot with a strong personality." Tenuta Sasso Orlando is one of the founding members of the Consorzio di Tutela Suvereto e Val di Cornia Wine, established in 2021 by 27 local wineries to promote and protect the area's wine identity, and was previously among the fifteen estates that founded the earlier Suvereto Wine promotional association.
