Tenuta Luce is a landmark estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, founded at the start of the 1990s as a joint venture between the Frescobaldi family, one of Tuscany's oldest winemaking dynasties, and Robert Mondavi, the pioneering Napa Valley vintner. Their flagship wine, Luce, released from the 1993 vintage, was the first wine from Montalcino to blend Sangiovese with Merlot, fusing Old World terroir with New World winemaking sensibility. In 2004, following Constellation Brands' acquisition of Robert Mondavi Winery, Frescobaldi bought out the remaining shares and has owned the estate outright ever since, continuing to produce Luce under the Luce della Vite label alongside Lucente and a modern-style Brunello di Montalcino. The estate spans roughly 249 hectares, including about 88 hectares of vineyard, at the Castelgiocondo site in Montalcino.
