Tenuta Le Farnete is a historic wine estate in Comeana, in the Carmignano DOCG appellation of Tuscany, about 20 kilometers west of Florence. The Pierazzuoli family, who had run Tenuta Cantagallo in the neighboring Chianti Montalbano zone since 1970, acquired Le Farnete in 1990, and brothers Enrico and Dario Pierazzuoli have overseen both properties since. The 50-hectare estate — including 11 hectares of vineyard on south/south-east-facing slopes of clay and quartz soil — has been certified organic since 2018. Farnete's Carmignano wines follow the appellation's centuries-old tradition of blending Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon, a practice traced back to the 18th-century Medici court. Vineyard density reaches 6,250 vines per hectare, with yields deliberately limited to roughly one bottle of wine per vine, reflecting the estate's guiding philosophy: 'una bottiglia di vino per ogni ceppo di vite' (one bottle of wine for every vine). The flagship Carmignano DOCG Riserva, an 80% Sangiovese / 20% Cabernet Sauvignon blend, has received Gambero Rosso's Tre Bicchieri award in multiple recent vintages. The estate also produces Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC and extra virgin olive oil, and welcomes visitors through its agriturismo and osteria.
