Tenuta Fratini

Bordeaux legend Eric Boissenot's Bolgheri debut
Tenuta Fratini is a boutique Bolgheri estate founded in 2019 by brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini, who previously built Tenuta Argentiera before selling their stake in 2016. Based in Donoratico on a roughly 1,000-hectare property, the estate farms about 20-28 hectares of vineyard planted between 50 and 300 meters above sea level in distinct micro-parcels shaped by soil and altitude analysis. Winemaking is overseen by renowned Bordeaux consultant Eric Boissenot -- adviser to Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux and Mouton Rothschild, and undertaking his first Italian project here -- together with resident enologist Emiliano Falsini. Plantings are dominated by Cabernet Franc alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aimed at fresher, more elegant wines than the typically powerful Bolgheri style. The estate is a registered member (consorziato) of the Consorzio per la Tutela dei Vini Bolgheri DOC e Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, and produces three reds: Hortense, the flagship Bolgheri Superiore; Harte, also Bolgheri Superiore; and Clinio, a Toscana IGT blend.
