Tenuta di Arceno is a historic 1,000-hectare estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga, the southernmost commune of Chianti Classico, bordering the medieval village of San Gusmè near Siena. Its winemaking roots trace back to the pre-Roman Etruscan era, with recorded ownership dating to 1504 under the Del Taja family and later the noble Piccolomini family. Acquired by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke of Jackson Family Wines in 1994, one of the family's first estates outside California, the property was replanted under the guidance of French vigneron Pierre Seillan using a micro-cru philosophy that farms and vinifies each vineyard block individually. Winemaker Lawrence Cronin, at the helm since 2002, crafts a Chianti Classico DOCG range built on native Sangiovese alongside a Toscana IGT range of international varieties, including the flagship Cabernet Franc-driven Arcanum.
