Poggio Sorbello

ポッジョ・ソルベッロ

Elegant Cortona DOC Syrah from a Baldetti family estate.

Poggio Sorbello is a family-run estate (the Baldetti family) located on the hills between Cortona and Montepulciano in Tuscany, with roots dating back to the early 1900s. The estate cultivates about 10 hectares of high-density vineyards, of which only the best 2 hectares are dedicated to winemaking, and focuses on the Cortona DOC denomination. Syrah, the flagship grape of the appellation, is the estate's signature variety, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese used across its four core labels: Gortinaia (Syrah), Donetto (Merlot), Fossa Granaia (Cabernet Sauvignon), and the Toscana IGT blend Boschi ai Filari. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats (never exceeding 27°C) followed by aging in barriques or concrete tanks for about a year. Committed to sustainable, low-intervention farming that respects the balance between vine, soil, and microorganisms, the winery also produces traditional Tuscan specialties such as legumes (including Fagiolina del Trasimeno), saffron, aglione garlic, wildflower honey, and extra virgin olive oil, and welcomes visitors for tastings.
