Podere Poggio Scalette

ポデーレ・ポッジョ・スカレッテ

Ruffoli's single-vineyard Sangiovese, aged over 90 years.

Podere Poggio Scalette became an autonomous estate in 1991 when Vittorio Fiore and his wife Adriana Assjè di Marcorà acquired vineyard land on the hill of Ruffoli, in the township of Greve in Chianti, at the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation. The estate is now run by their son Jurij, a graduate of the School of Viticulture and Oenology of Beaune. Its flagship wine, Il Carbonaione, comes from a single Ruffoli plot planted with the historic Sangiovese di Lamole clone, some vines over 90 years old, at 350-550m altitude. Declassified to Alta Valle della Greve IGT to preserve its near-100% Sangiovese purity, it stands as one of Chianti's most celebrated single-vineyard expressions.
