Podere Capaccia
ポデーレ・カパッチャ
Authentic, high-altitude Chianti Classico from Radda.
Podere Capaccia is a boutique Chianti Classico estate perched at 550 meters above sea level on a hilltop overlooking the Pesa valley in Radda in Chianti. Its buildings are the ruins of a medieval hamlet dating to the 12th-14th centuries, revived as a winery in the early 1970s. Acquired in 2010 by Herman and Fanny De Bode, the estate has undergone a meticulous renovation of its vineyards and cellars while converting to organic viticulture. Sandstone, limestone and shale soils with excellent drainage, combined with south-facing exposure, allow the Sangiovese-dominant vineyards to reach full ripeness. The estate produces three wines: a Chianti Classico, a Riserva, and the IGT Toscana 'Querciagrande,' a nearly pure Sangiovese sourced from the Capannelle vineyard planted in 2007.
