Nagoya Winery WINAR is an urban winery in Nagoya, Aichi, operated by Veraison Inc. under representative Noriyuki Baba, who also runs Tokoname Winery Neighborhood in Tokoname. The project began in 2018 and grew through a 2021 crowdfunding campaign backed by more than 100 supporters, culminating in a 2022 planting ceremony at the company's own vineyard in Nagoya's Midori Ward, where Albariño and Syrah vines were planted. Following the first harvest in August 2024, WINAR opened to the public on March 16, 2025 in a renovated building in the Endoji district of Nishi Ward, releasing its debut vintages — Nagoya Albariño 2024 and Nagoya Shiraz 2024 — as the city's first winery to qualify for the official 'Nagoya Wine' designation, which requires wines to be made from at least 85% Nagoya-grown grapes and fermented within the city. The ground-floor production and tasting space is paired with the in-house bistro 'commone' on the second floor. WINAR's guiding concept, 'POST CULTIVATE,' reimagines cultivating, nurturing, and consuming as community acts, positioning the winery as a gathering place for Nagoya's residents rather than a conventional rural producer.
