Michele Satta
ミケーレ・サッタ
A Bolgheri pioneer redefining the region through Sangiovese.
Located in the heart of Bolgheri, Michele Satta is a pioneering estate that challenged the region's obsession with international varieties by championing Sangiovese. Michele Satta arrived in Bolgheri in 1983 and founded his own winery in 1991, becoming one of the founding members of the Bolgheri DOC Consortium. While he was also among the first to plant Syrah, Teroldego and Viognier in the area, he remained deeply committed to proving that Sangiovese could thrive in Bolgheri's maritime climate, advocating for its inclusion in the Bolgheri DOC blend regulations. His wines are characterized by elegance, freshness and a distinct sense of place, moving away from the heavy extraction often associated with the region. The estate, now spanning 23 hectares in Castagneto Carducci, is increasingly run alongside his children Giacomo and Benedetta.
