About this wine

LEGAME is Memuro Winery's first-ever blend of its two signature Tokachi-bred varieties, Yamasachi and Kiyomai, made entirely from grapes grown in Memuro Town, Hokkaido. The name comes from the Italian word for 'bond,' reflecting the winery's hope that the wine deepens connections between people. The winery's growers, winemakers, and staff tasted and adjusted the blend repeatedly during cultivation and fermentation before settling on the final ratio. The wine shows a restrained oak note, refreshing acidity, and a light, approachable fruit character. LEGAME was first released as a limited, serial-numbered bottling through an early-access crowdfunding campaign on Makuake, and went on to win a Silver Medal at the 2023 'SAKURA' Japan Women's Wine Awards.

Beginner's Note

An easy, food-friendly introduction to Japan's own Yamasachi and Kiyomai varieties — light-bodied and gentle on oak, so it won't overwhelm newcomers to Japanese wine.

Sommelier's Note

"As Memuro Winery's first blend of Yamasachi and Kiyomai, LEGAME captures a genuine turning point for the winery — its Silver Medal at the 2023 SAKURA Japan Women's Wine Awards confirms that this experimental pairing works."

Food Pairings

The gentle oak and light fruit character make it a versatile match for Japanese cuisine — think yakitori glazed with tare, mushroom rice, or simmered dishes with soy-based sauces. It also pairs well with grilled meats and mild hard cheeses.

When to drink it

A fitting bottle for occasions centered on connection — reunions with friends, anniversaries, or as a gift for someone you want to build a bond with, true to its Italian name.
