Burgundy's largest Corton/Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru owner; Château Corton Grancey, the Côte d'Or's only named château

Founded in Aloxe-Corton in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's oldest and most prestigious négociant-domaines, currently in its 10th generation of family ownership. The estate commands 50 hectares of domaine vineyards, including an extraordinary 28 hectares in Corton and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru — more than any other producer in the appellation. Its crown jewel, Château Corton Grancey, is the only named château on the Côte d'Or and produces a Grand Cru Corton of remarkable consistency. Louis Latour is also notably known for championing white wines from Ardèche and Coteaux Bourguignons in addition to its Côte d'Or portfolio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Château Corton Grancey?
Château Corton Grancey is Louis Latour's flagship estate wine and the only wine on the Côte d'Or that can use the word 'château' on its label. It is a Corton Grand Cru blended from Latour's best plots in Les Perrières, Les Grèves, and Les Bressandes, offering exceptional consistency and aging potential of 20+ years.
Why is Louis Latour associated with Corton-Charlemagne?
Louis Latour owns more Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru than any other producer — approximately 9.5 hectares — making it the benchmark reference for this legendary white Grand Cru from Aloxe-Corton.
Does Maison Louis Latour make its own barrels?
Yes — Louis Latour is the only Burgundy négociant-domaine to operate its own cooperage, based in Savigny-lès-Beaune, producing around 3,500 barrels a year, roughly half used to age its own wines and half sold to leading Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers worldwide.
