Founded in 2015 by Takashi Abe, a former IT professional inspired by a Burgundy white wine, Le CINQ Winery is the fifth winery established on Niigata's celebrated Niigata Wine Coast — its French name "cinq" (five) commemorating that milestone. After a year of training at the neighboring Cave d'Occi winery school, Abe opened Le CINQ in Kakudahama, Nishikan-ku, Niigata City, where sandy dune soils and cooling sea breezes off the Sea of Japan shape the vineyard's cool maritime terroir. Guided by the motto "Traditional and Elegant," the winery crafts clean, aromatic, gently textured wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Delaware and other varieties, letting terroir and varietal character speak for themselves.
