Lamole di Lamole is the leading estate of the Lamole UGA, the smallest and highest-altitude subzone of Chianti Classico. Its historic cellar, dating to the mid-14th century, was originally part of the Castle of Lamole built by the Gherardini family — the same dynasty linked to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Acquired by the Santa Margherita wine group (part of the Marzotto family's wine holdings) in 1993, the estate today farms roughly 37 hectares of vines within Lamole out of a 288-hectare property, making it the UGA's largest single vineyard owner — accounting for close to 40% of the appellation's total vine surface. Under winemaker Andrea Daldin, who has led the cellar for three decades and was a 2025 Wine Star Awards finalist, the vineyards — planted between 350 and 650 metres above sea level on sandy, non-calcareous Macigno soils — are certified organic, and in 2023 Lamole di Lamole became the first Italian winery to present a carbon-neutral stand at Vinitaly.
