Historic family estate crafting classic Vino Nobile
Cantine Innocenti (also known as Cantine Vittorio Innocenti) is a family-run estate in Montefollonico, a medieval hilltop village between Montepulciano and Torrita di Siena in Tuscany. Founded in 1978 by Vittorio Innocenti — a former philosophy professor who left academia to devote himself to winemaking — the estate spans roughly 32 hectares, of which about 16 hectares are dedicated to specialized vineyards planted between 330 and 350 metres above sea level on medium-textured, Pliocene-era clay soils. The winery is housed in cellar buildings dating back to the late 13th century in the heart of Montefollonico. Since 2009 the estate has been run by Vittorio's son Tommaso, together with his partner Nancy, a pharmaceutical chemist turned winemaker, while carefully preserving its identity as a small, family-managed producer even as its wines have reached international markets. Innocenti is recognized as one of the most respected interpreters of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, crafting Sangiovese-based wines — including Canaiolo Nero and Mammolo in the blend — alongside Rosso di Montepulciano and Chianti Colli Senesi.
