Fuligni

フリーニ

The epitome of elegance and traditional finesse in eastern Montalcino.

Founded in 1923 by Giovanni Maria Fuligni, a descendant of a Venetian noble family that settled in Montalcino, this historic estate has been run since 1971 by his daughter Maria Flora Fuligni. A founding member of the Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio in 1967, Fuligni farms roughly 14 hectares of vines on the eastern slopes of Montalcino around the Cottimelli locality, at 380-450 meters above sea level, on Eocene marl and tuff-and-clay soils. The estate is celebrated for an uncompromising, traditional approach: fermentation in stainless steel followed by aging in large 20-30 hl Slavonian oak botti (with a small portion refined in Allier tonneaux), and a strict policy of declassifying the entire vintage rather than releasing Brunello in years that fail to meet its standards. The result is Sangiovese Grosso of exceptional elegance, vibrant acidity and long aging potential, widely regarded as one of the purest expressions of eastern Montalcino terroir.
