Fujiclair Winery
フジクレールワイナリー
Minimal-intervention Koshu rooted in Katsunuma's terroir
Founded in 1963 as part of the Fujicco Group — the food company famous for its kombu products — Fujiclair Winery has crafted wine in Katsunuma, the historic heart of Japanese viticulture, since its winery facility was completed there in 1990. Renamed from Fujikko Winery to Fujiclair Winery in April 2023 (the name blends "Fuji," for Mount Fuji, with the French word "clair," meaning clear), the winery is devoted to expressing the full character of grapes shaped by Yamanashi's climate, soil, and growers. Winemaking avoids chaptalization, acidification, and filtration, relying on native-yeast fermentation for most cuvées. Grapes come from the winery's own plots in Katsunuma and the volcanic, high-altitude Akeno site in Hokuto, plus trusted contract growers nearby. The Koshu range spans sur lie and barrel-fermented styles to the delicate, low-alcohol Ginka and Kyoutou bottlings and the premium single-vineyard Momochi series.
