Fruitière Vinicole d'Arbois

フリュティエール・ヴィニコル・ダルボワ

One of France's first wine cooperatives, crafting Jura wines since 1906.

Founded on 4 January 1906 by winegrowers from Arbois responding to the phylloxera crisis and unfair competition from lesser wines, the Fruitière Vinicole d'Arbois was one of the very first wine cooperatives established in France. It played a key role in securing France's first-ever AOC, awarded to Arbois wines in 1936. Today the cooperative unites roughly 90 to 100 growers farming around 250-300 hectares across the Arbois and Côtes du Jura appellations. Winemaking is centered at Château Béthanie, acquired in 1969, where the five classic Jura grape varieties — Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir — are vinified into the region's full range of styles: fresh whites, elegant reds, sparkling Crémant du Jura, the fortified Macvin du Jura, and the celebrated oxidative specialties Vin Jaune and Vin de Paille. The cooperative also absorbed the Fruitière Vinicole de Poligny in 2005 and now runs five tasting boutiques across the Jura.
