Based in Gaggiano di Poggibonsi, the estate played a pivotal role in the modernization and international recognition of Chianti wine, and was among the first to apply scientific advances (such as controlled heat treatment in 1830) to preserve and stabilize wine for export. Today part of Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV), Melini combines traditional Tuscan winemaking with modern research, producing everything from accessible, high-quality Chianti to prestigious single-vineyard Riservas such as those from the La Selvanella estate.
