Fattoria La Gerla
ファットリア・ラ・ジェルラ
A pioneering traditional-style Brunello estate in northern Montalcino.
Founded in 1976 by former advertising executive Sergio Rossi, Fattoria La Gerla is a historic estate in the Canalicchio zone of northern Montalcino, Tuscany — land once owned by the Biondi-Santi family. La Gerla was among the first 35 official bottlers of Brunello di Montalcino. The 11.5-hectare estate spans the cool, aromatic Canalicchio vineyards (6.5 ha) in the north and the warmer Castelnuovo dell'Abate vineyards (5 ha) in the south, a combination that allows La Gerla to produce balanced, elegant, and traditionally styled Brunello. Winemaker Vittorio Fiore and vineyard manager Alberto Passeri continue Sergio Rossi's legacy of massal-selected Sangiovese Grosso, large-oak aging, and minimal intervention, producing wines prized for their silky tannins and refined, traditional character.
