Fattoria di Fubbiano

ファットリア・ディ・フッビアーノ

17th-century Lucca estate blending centuries of tradition with careful, low-intervention farming.

A historic wine estate on the sun-drenched, south-facing slopes of the Lucca hills, between the villages of Tofori and San Gennaro in Capannori. The first written record of wine production at Fubbiano dates to 1694, when the Archbishop of Lucca visited the property on a pastoral tour; the Corsini family took over management of the farm in 1921, and the estate has been owned by the Schiller family since 2002. Of the estate's 45 hectares, about 20 are under vine, planted mainly to Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Vermentino and Aleatico, trained in traditional guyot and spurred-cordon forms at roughly 5,000 vines per hectare. Only manure is used as fertilizer, with no chemical pesticides, producing around 100,000 bottles a year (80% red, 20% white) under the Colline Lucchesi DOC, alongside a Supertuscan IGT blend, an Aleatico passito, grappa, wine vinegar and award-winning extra virgin olive oil. The estate also welcomes guests for tastings and agritourism stays in its restored farmhouses and villas.
