Founded in 1922 by the Baiocchi family on land in Acquaviva, near Montepulciano, Fattoria del Cerro was acquired in 1978 by the Saiagricola group and became the flagship estate of the Tenute del Cerro portfolio. Spanning roughly 600 hectares of land with 181 hectares under vine (93 of which are registered in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano register), it is the largest private producer in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano appellation. Vineyards are planted predominantly with Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile), alongside Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Trebbiano, and Malvasia. The estate's flagship wine, Silineo, ages seven months in tonneaux followed by eleven months in large Slavonian oak casks, and its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva has received strong scores from James Suckling and Wine Spectator. The property also includes the 17th-century Relais Villa Grazianella and an on-site restaurant.
