Domaine Justin Girardin

Pinot Noir

About this wine

This exquisite red wine is crafted from approximately 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines located in the Santenay appellation of Burgundy. The grapes are sourced from three distinct parcels—Les Bievaux, Clos Genet, and Sous la Roche—which feature clay-limestone soils. The winemaking process is meticulous, involving manual harvesting, triple sorting, and a cold pre-fermentation maceration to preserve primary aromas. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new), the wine displays a deep ruby color with delicate, complex notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and subtle floral hints of violet. It offers a refined structure with supple tannins and a long, elegant finish.

Beginner's Note

A perfect introduction to the elegance of Burgundy; it is approachable, fruit-forward, and beautifully balanced.

Sommelier's Note

"This is a masterclass in Santenay terroir. You must experience the purity of fruit and the structural finesse that only these old vines can provide."

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with roasted white meats, poultry, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. Avoid overly rich or spicy sauces that might mask the wine's delicate fruit profile.

When to drink it

Ideal for intimate dinners, autumn/winter gatherings, or as a sophisticated gift for a wine enthusiast.
